I tried calling Vanessa, but it was busy again. I swear, she's on the phone as much as a girl :-P

phone tag
So I'm playing phone tag with the owner of Long Beach Motorsports right now. I want to tell him that I've submitted the case to the dept. of consumer affairs for arbitration, and that if the state can't help us work this out I'll be taking it to small claims court. Maybe when he realizes that I'm not just going to roll over he'll do the right thing and just eat the loss.

Traffic
So now I have a car and it takes me an hour and a half to get to work, instead of the usual 40 minutes. I've spoken with the owner of the shop who looked into the matter and then decided he wasn't going to take responsibility either. So now it's been submitted to the Dept. Of Consumer Affairs for arbitration. If they can't help us work something out, the next step is small claims court. The bottom line is: when I got it back from their oil change it was in worse condition than when I took it in. That lead to serious engine problems within a few days. The evidence is clear, and I think the judge would rule in my favor. I hope it doesn't have to come to that, but at the rate we're going now... it's not looking good.

Thinking too much
On the way to work today, or rather while crawling in traffic in my car this morning, I saw two cars that wanted to swap places. They were side by side, and the one on the left wanted to move to the right one land and vice versa. Right away I tried to think of a way that they could make the switch without slowing everyone down. I don't think it's possible because you'll always need that temporary spot while one car moves. Actually the best method would be to leave a gap in front of both drivers so they can switch lanes one right after another. But then there's the problem of people from the outside two lanes gunning it to get in that spot only to slam on the brakes and sit and wait. It doesn't make any sense, but I see it everyday.
But the real question is: why was I spending part of my morning thinking about this? It seems this is a much more difficult question. I didn't have much else on my mind, so that would help explain it. Plus it seemed relevant at the time being that I was barely moving.
I was listening to a CD by Whitetown on the way in today. There was one song that started out with "I can see you crying, because I spilled your paints again..." and that made me think of my friend Vanessa. So I guess being having a brain that goes on a rampage isn't all bad. It's accoustic, and very soft, so it's suprising that I like it, but I do. It's called "A Week Next June" in case anyone else wants to listen. I also like the song "wanted" but I can't figure out who does the vocals on that track. I recognize the voice, but I can't figure out what else she's sung.
And remember kids: If it's not worth fighting for, it's worth nothing at all.
